All Pungs (對對胡) — 3 Faan

All Pungs is worth 3 faan — all four melds are pungs or kongs, with no chows at all.

What it is

All Pungs (對對胡, also called 碰碰胡) is a mid-value staple of Hong Kong Mahjong: four melds, every one a pung or kong, plus a pair. The eyes can be any pair — suited or honour.

How to form it

A starting hand with four or five pairs is All Pungs material. The play is direct: keep pairs, pung whenever you can, and shed the loose tiles. Because pungs come from claims, the hand often completes quickly — it’s the other mainstream route to a clean 3-faan minimum.

Common scoring mistake

Some players think claimed pungs don’t count — they do; open and concealed pungs are equal here. The eyes are unrestricted too. The only requirement is zero sequences among your four melds.

Combines with

All Pungs is the great combiner: 混對 (Half Flush + All Pungs) = 3 + 3 = 6 faan; 清對 (Full Flush + All Pungs) = 7 + 3 = 10 faan. All Honours is an All Pungs structure by definition. Dragon and wind pungs stack another faan each.
